Pre Season Golf Fitness Written by: Dean Naudi You’ve heard it many times over and over but now is the time to start your pre season golf fitness. There are many websites on the internet dedicated to this topic and I for one, who has had many health issues with my back, both upper and lower, can attest to a diligent pre season conditioning program. Being a Physical Education major in college and a lifetime golfer, I certainly have experienced going into the golf season not being fully prepared physically. It leads to a lack of confidence in your golf swing which then starts to affect your mental confidence. If you’re not sure how your body will respond to the golf swing, a lack of conditioning can definitely change your body movements and actually cause more damage to whatever health issue you may have which also adds to higher scores and more frustration. So please take my advice from somebody who has to deal with this every year. Unless you want to fulfill the winter break with spine injections and rehab at your local therapy clinics, take the initiative and seek some of the health websites that can help you with a successful and enjoyment filled golf season. I’m not here to promote one website or another, but a few I have found very helpful to me are: http://www.sport-fitness-advisor.com/golf-stretching-exercises.html I also have done plenty of work with yoga for golfing fitness, and have personally found this to be extremely helpful. Again, getting into a preseason fitness program and following the recommendations of the experts, can lead you to a very enjoyable golfing season and who knows, maybe even knock a couple of strokes off that handicap!! If you decide against pre season conditioning, I guess you can always ask your partners for a few strokes per 9 as you are hobbling down the fairway. They just might feel bad enough for you and give you a couple. I figure, any way to make that extra buck!
